Could 2-D Images help with cancer prevention? Health officials believe this could be particularly help for gastric cancers-the fourth most common cause of cancer in the world.

Researchers believe that the findings can be significant for medical implications at the cellular level as a protein is directly linked to its function, adding that the result is particularly important because HDGC is asymptomatic and early detection is not always reliable-meaning that the disease still caries extremely high mortality, via a new algorithim that can hopefully change all that.

"Our algorithm can now be used as a complementary approach to evaluate the pathogenicity of E-cadherin," said oresearcher  Raquel Seruca, in a news release. "Moreover, it can be applied to a wide range of proteins and, more importantly, to diseases characterized by aberrant protein expression or trafficking deregulation."

"Our algorithm was not only able to pinpoint the protein location, but also to quantify it in each cellular compartment. While the MMR value gave us the protein dispersion."

More information regarding the findings can be seen via the European Journal of Human Genetics.
