'Quad Mom' Welcomes Babies This Holiday Season
Utah resident and new mom Ashley Garner gave birth to her highly publicized quadruplets on Sunday, who were conceived through in-vitro fertilization.
The Garners had tried having children for years when at 27, Ashley learned that she had endometriosis--a disorder that causes cells from the lining of the womb to grow in other areas of the body. It is oftentimes also very painful and can result in irregular bleeding patterns and difficulty conceiving.
After she underwent in-vitro fertilization and had two embryos implanted, the embryos split, resulting in two sets of identical twins.
Now, just a bit over 29 weeks, the babies have arrived via cesarean section.
"Mom and babies are doing incredible!!!" the family wrote, via their Facebook account, A Miracle Unfolding -- Gardner Quadruplets. "We are so happy with how everything turned out today! The doctors, nurses, and staff were incredible!! More updates to follow soon!!"
The four girls were originally due on March 11. However, the couple planned on delivering around this time.
Well-wishers have taken to the Facebook page, congratulating the couple and asking for pictures of the newborns.
