Creativity Boosted Through Certain Types Of Meditation
Taking a little time out every day to relax your mind could also boost your creativity. Recent findings published in the journal Mindfulness show that the ancient art of mediation can also help to get your imagination going.
For the study, researchers Lorenza Colzato and Dominique Lippelt found out how certain mediation methods can help promote creative thinking in people who have never even mediated before. Furthermore, the study results promoted clear evidence that everyone can benefit from this relaxation technique that also enhances cognition and creativity.
The study involved 40 participants who were asked to meditate for 25 minutes before doing their thinking tasks, comprised of both experienced meditators, as well as those new to meditation, completely.
However, researchers noted that not all forms of meditations are created equal when it comes to cognitive enhancement. For instance, the study showed that most of the participants performed better in divergent thinking after Open Monitoring meditation, but not after Focused Attention meditation-otherwise known as the ability to come up with many possible solutions for a given problem. Furthermore, Open Monitoring meditation is actively being open to accept every though and sensation, and Focused Attention meditation is actively focusing on a particular thought or object.
