Sabra has recalled 30,000 cases of its classic hummus brand due to possible listeria contamination.

The potential issue was discovered via random sample testing that was collected via retail location by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development on March 30.

Sabra was alerted and voluntarily made the recall.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that Listeriosis is a serious infection that can be caused by eating food contaminated by bacterium Listeria monocytogenes. The disease primarily affects older adults, pregnant women, new borns and those with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms that show a sign of infection include gastrointestinal problems, diarrhea, fever and muscle aches. They may also include headaches, a stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance or even convulsions.
