Your eyes aren't fooling you. This frog looks a lot like Kermit from The Muppets. Scientists have discovered a new species of glassfrog in the jungles of Costa Rica with quite the striking appearance.

The last time a new glassfrog was found in Costa Rica was in 1973, according to CNN. This latest discovery brings up the total amount of glassfrogs in the country to 14.

Glassfrogs are well-known for their translucent skin. In this case, the new frog has a translucent belly, which allows you to see all of its internal organs from underneath.

The new species of glassfrog, called Hyalinobatrachium dianae, was described from six specimens that were collected at three different sites along the Caribbean slopes of Costa Rica. These animals were found between 400 to 900 meters above sea level, according to the Costa Rican Amphibian Research Center.

The new frog also has an unusual call, which was used to justify it being a completely new species, according to CBS News. It has a long, metallic whistle that makes it sound more like an insect than a frog.

"I think it is great that this species is getting so much attention around the world," said Brian Kubicki, the founder of the Costa Rican Amphibian Research Center, in an interview with CBS News. "Hopefully this will help increase the awareness of the incredible amphibians found in Costa Rica and the need to continue studying them and conserve their vital habitats."

The new frog was described in the journal Zootaxa.
