Floating Bonsai Trees May be the Future of Indoor Gardening
Why have a regular bonsai tree when you can have one that floats? A new Kickstarter project, Air Bonsai, is offering the chance to have a levitating bonsai tree that uses a magnetic base to cause the effect.
The Kickstarter campaign is already well above its set goal of $80,000, and is now well above $160,000. Similar to what you see with floating speakers, these plants use magnetic levitation in order to cause the tiny tree to float above a base.
Of course, this particularly project is only in its beginning stages. It's likely that the size of the plant will be limited, since there's a weight cap on the floating device. In addition, watering the plant may be tricky, and will probably require you to take the plant off the base in order to avoid getting water on any of the electronics.
Currently, you can back the project for $200 in order to get the "Air Bonsai Basic" set, which includes a floating moss ball called the "little star." This ball has a spongy interior where you can plant your tree of choice.
It should be noted that the Kickstarter project doesn't offer actual plants, and only the planters. This is largely due to import issues in this particular case.
Currently, you can still get in on the action to order your very own Little Star on the Kickstarter project.
