Hunters Capture 'Monster' Alligator in Florida

Hunters taught they had already caught the biggest one, but they were totally wrong. Early week of April, two Florida hunters claimed to have captured a fifteen-foot alligator. This could have been the biggest catch so far until the hunters themselves withdrew their epic claim.

As reported on Mashable, the hunters claimed to have caught an alligator, which is almost 800 pounds. The alligator feasted on their cattle according to the hunters. It was Lee Lightsey who spotted the alligator in a pond as he was hunting for gators with Blake Godwin.

"Although this animal is huge, I was not that surprised it existed," Lightsey told BBC News as cited on The Washington Post. "We have come across lots over the last 20 years that have been only a little smaller," he further added. Lee Lightsey runs a hunting business Outwest Farms in Okeechobee.

Blake Godwin, Lightsey's hunting guide, told Fox about what had happened during the encounter. He said that the huge alligator surfaced just about twenty feet right in front of them, and soon after Lightsey saw it, he took the monster down.

Godwin said further that the gator was gargantuan and that the people who were there used a farm tractor just to pull the monster from the cattle pond. They even struggled doing it.

Calling himself a lifetime, natural-born hunter, Lightsey has been in this gator business for over eighteen years now. On Saturday, the group bragged on Facebook a picture of their catch. It was "the largest gator we have ever killed in the wild!" Lightsey said.

 But many were skeptical about their gator photo on Facebook, and even expressed their comments on Lightsey's FB page, accusing the Florida hunters to have used Photoshop. Others argued that the hunters made use of a trick to make the gator-monster look enormous.

In spite of these criticisms, the Florida hunters are up for donating the gator's meat to charity while the alligator will be stuffed for display.
