Whoopi Goldberg In Favor of Marijuana Treatments for Menstrual Pain
Whoopi Goldberg has supported a proposed bill that will legalize marijuana treatments for menstrual cramps. The actress has even started to work on a new line of products in support of marijuana treatment.
Currently, three members of the Democratic Assembly are working on a new bill in New Jersey. Following its legalization, doctors can prescribe medical marijuana to women suffering from dysmenorrhea, a severe form of period pain.
The law was introduced on Thursday by Tim Eustace, Angelica Jimenez and Grace Spencer. On its approval, women in the state of New Jersey will be able to access cannabis infused chocolate, oils and creams to treat menstrual cramps.
At present, there is a strict policy on marijuana use in New Jersey. The drug is only prescribed to those suffering from seizures, glaucoma, muscular dystrophy, sclerosis and terminal cancer. Cannabis is also used for chronic disorders that usually include a lack of appetite and intense pain. The three members of the Democratic Assembly are now trying to give women a new option to relieve menstrual pain.
Dysmenorrhea is highly painful and uncomfortable, and women who suffer from it have to face it every month. Apart from prescribing pain medication doctors can't do anything else to relieve monthly cramps. The currently available forms of medication do not always have a foolproof effect, sometimes they work and other times they make the situation even more adverse.
According to reports, the development of cannabis infused products will help in women forgetting their pain, as well as craving associated with periods, like chocolates and other sweets.
Being a woman affected by dysmenorrhea, actress Whoopi Goldberg is in support of marijuana treatments for menstrual cramps. The actress observed there is a niche market for edible marijuana products in New Jersey, so she decided to team up with entrepreneur Maya Elisabeth to offer a line of products that brings efficient relief to women suffering from severe monthly cramps.
The new brand, called Whoopi & Maya products, will hit the stores after the bill is passed and the prescription of cannabis products for treating marijuana is legalized.
