Xiaomi Mi 5 Post-Release Update: 32 GB Gets Overheating Issues; Takes Awhile Before App Launches
On one MIUI forum, Xiaomi Mi 5 users vented out their dismay with the device's performance. A few others also raised concern about heating-related issues while taking photos. One user even resorted to comparing the predecessors Xiaomi Mi 3 and Xiaomi Mi 4 to Xiaomi Mi 5 and said that no issues as such came with the previous devices.
Xiaomi decided to have Quick Charger 2.0, rather than the QC 3.0. Reportedly, this caused the fast battery compression that leads to the overheat issues. The fast charging mechanism has the tendency to heat up devices, so the China-based company opted for QC 2.0. However, the issue persisted.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 was recently launched in India as Xiaomi's newest flagship device. The smartphone was revealed during the company's launch event and is available exclusively on the company's online store since April 6.
The company officially launched their new flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 5, for the Indian market approximately a month after its debut showcasing three variants at this year's Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain, The Indian Express reported.
The flagship device will be sold in India for the price of Rs. 24,999, NDTV reported. In current exchange rates, that is about $378.
The new device has different variants. However, the only variant that will be sold in India is the 32 GB standard variant. The other versions, the Prime and Pro, will not be available. The Prime variant has a larger internal storage at 64 GB and a faster CPU at 2.15 GHz. The Pro has the best offerings with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage along with 2.15 GHz. This premium variant also has a ceramic body.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 32 GB variant features a 3D glass body with metal and glass. The device has three colors to choose from: white, black, and gold. Specs include 16 megapixels rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization and wide angle lens, 4 megapixels front camera, 1080p HD 5.15" screen display, an Adreno 530 GPU, and Snapdragon 820 processor.
Xiaomi Mi 5 will also be available via third party retailers in the country, soon.
