New World Trade Center Stark Space Underground To Give Way For Ads
Stark underground space is found in the new World Trade Center where 2, 753 died during the attack on Sept. 11, 2011. The area, according to reports, will also hold a giant electric billboard as part of the luxury shopping mall set to open in August.
The stark underground space has been designed for the new shopping mall Westfield World Trade Center in the World Trade Center Transportation Hub, with the electronic billboard taking control of the wall. An LED display, which will operate at all hours, the billboard is expected to be alternately static and kinetic.
However, some reports claim that the new design was not expected to remain the same. According to a statement from the Westfield Corporation, the digital signage network of the entire facility has always been included in the retail program. This means that the objective is to combine the digital and physical experiences throughout the facility. The operators also said that the 280-foot-long sign is meant to form some moments of interest for the people who pass through the gallery.
According to reports, no digital media, either signage or screens, are placed facing the memorial, since the Westfield Corporation has always been sensitive to the memorial. The footprints of the old trade center towers are treated with respect, defining the edges of the twin pools of the memorial, where the names of the victims are engraved.
The bedrock level is also treated with respect. Wrapped in glowing aluminium, the footprints serve as guides to the guests of the National September 11 Memorial Museum, helping them to have a better understanding of where the buildings stood. However, a single edge of the 1 World Trade Center footprint is now going to be the setting of the electronic marketing device.
Meanwhile, the National September 11 Memorial and the Word Trade Center Foundation have expressed their support to the design. According to the foundation, they can work with the Westfield Corporation regarding the content which will be displayed on the digital screens on the annual commemorative period in September.
