SpaceX Rocket Falcon 9 Lands Successfully In Water
The SpaceX has recently released a footage that showed three diffent views of the Falcon 9 landing on a drone ship that was stationed in the Atlantic ocean.
Elon Musk's company said in a tweet that the event is its "hottest and fastest landing yet." The Falcon 9 landed after the launch of a Japanese communications satellite called the JCSAT-14 into orbit. ABC noted that this marks as the third time that SpaceX has successfully landed a rocket back to earth - the first time was in December, and the second time in April.
While the success of the launch was relative - the rocket's re-entry in the lead up to the landing is still questionable for some scientists, Musk said that the "re-entry was a lot faster than the last time."
He also mentioned that the odds of the rocket making the launch is even, but either way, they will be learning a lot from the launch.

The Verge noted that initial projections of the rocket were poor - these were due to the extreme velocities and reentry heating that the rocket is subjected to. However, Musk thought the odds of a successful landing "even" and it was - the third rocket landing, and the second done at sea has been successful, and a big win for SpaceX.
For those who are interested in watching the landing, Engadget noted that there is a video of the event using three slightly different angles from the ship - to show the rocket coming back down -- a difficult event considering that this is the first landing that came after a geostationary transfer orbit (GTO) mission.
All's well that ends well, however, and you can see the footage yourself, which is shown in the video below.
