An Indian woman shocked the world when she gave birth to her first child at the age of 70. She said on Tuesday that she was not too old to be a first-time mother, and added that she has nothing more to ask for in life.

The Central Intelligence Agency said that in the most recent data, the average age for a first time mother in India is 19.9. Daljinder Kaur is bringing the average up. Medical Daily has mentioned that Kaur and her husband, 79, has been married for 46 years and had almost lost their hope on having children. Kaur then turned to in-vitro fertilization as her last course of action in hopes of ending her struggles.

"When we saw the (IVF) advert, we thought we should also give it a try as I badly wanted to have a baby of my own," she said. Although Kaur put her age at around 70, which is a common trend in India where don't have birth certificates, the clinic said in a statement that she was 72.

"The woman came to me alone first in 2013, after reading about us in a paper," said Dr. Anurag Bishnoi, embryologist and owner of the National Fertility and Test Tube Baby Center in Hisar. "Our track record handling IVF in older women has been fairly good, but not everyone is fit to conceive. In her case, she looked visibly frail too, so I had to refer her to a cardiologist to get clearance for the procedure and a battery of other tests to ascertain fitness levels," the Hindustan Times reported.

According to Discovery News, although Kaur was considered fit to conceive, the road to childbirth was bumpy. The National Facility and Test Tube center said that the baby boy was conceived using the couple's own egg and sperm and "healthy and hearty" after weighing just two kilograms (4.4 pounds) at birth on April 19. Kaur's husband, Mohinder Singh Gill, who owns a farm outside Amritsar, said he was unfazed about their age, saying God would watch over their child whom they named Armaan.

"People say what will happen to the child once we die. But I have full faith in God. God is omnipotent and omnipresent, he will take care of everything," he told
