Microsoft Surface Book 2 To Come With Quad-Core CPU, USB Type-C Connectivity Come 2017?
Microsoft Surface Book 2 is set to launch in 2017. This new variant of a laptop-tablet device is expected to keep up with the success of the first version which was packed with Windows 10 Pro, Intel's Skylake chips and a Surface Pen.
The new Microsoft Surface Book 2 is expected to come with a more enhanced hardware and notable additional features. Based on reports, the new device will be coming with a few design improvements, particularly with its hinges. With Microsoft's Dynamic Fulcrum Hinge, the users are enabled to reattach or detach easily the screen from and to its keyboard. However, there have been reports about a space that remains between the screen and the keyboard when the Microsoft Surface Book is closed. With this, Microsoft is believed to bring some changes in the design of the hinge to make the gap unnoticeable.
Microsoft Surface Book 2 is also expected to use the latest generation of Intel i7 and i5 chipsets, with a code name Kaby Lake to provide consistent performance. Both CPUs are included in the new 14-nanometer processors or the drastic improvements to the GPU performance and the CPU power. Kaby Lake processors are the quad-core CPUs that work well with the local USB Type-C connectivity, according to Information Week.
Given that fact that Microsoft used a 2,000 x 3,000 resolution in the initial version, a 4K resolution display on its upcoming model appears to be reasonable. However, the device could come in an expensive package because of the high-end screen. Nevertheless, Kaby Lake processors are going to manage with a lot of ease the load of graphic processing if Microsoft will settle on all the powerful specs.
When the first Surface Book was launched, several users complained about the high usage cycle of the laptop and the tablet. The first variant run for only four hours on a tablet mode and eight hours when it is docked. Surface Book 2 should, therefore, come with a longer battery lifespan, for the users to completely enjoy the features of a convertible laptop, Christian Today reported.
