Google Maps Will Bring Changes That Might Help You On Your Next Road Trip
Google has announced that it has redesigned its ad products that user will soon see in Google and Google Maps.
The said changes will take effect later this year that will involve expanded space for text ads as well as making the headlines more readable and prominent, according to Business Day Live.
In a recent blog post of Sridhar Ramaswamy, senior ads vice president of Google, he noted that there will be changes on Google Maps and there might be pop-up ads that will be integrated to GPS. With this, local businesses will have the chance to advertise their services or products if a Google Map user is using the app near their place. Google calls this as "promoted pins."
In his post, Google's Ramaswamy said: "To help advertisers reach consumers searching for physical business locations, we're introducing new local search ads across Google.com and Google Maps." He added that Google Maps users will soon see promoted pins and easily learn about nearby gas stations, restaurants or coffee shops as they drive.
These pins will appear to offer drivers to stop to grab food. It is essentially a new experience for the users, and gives business owners to boost their marketing.
These pop-ups will also appear if users will do location-based searches on the web. Interestingly, Google will now also allow advertises to bid on ads. With this, Google will allow advertisers to bid separately for tables, computers, and smartphones. This means they can pick the one that they think is relevant to their target market. In this new feature, Google considered the fact may millions of Google searches are being made on mobile phones.
According to Forbes, this will help Google boost its profits. According to Ben Schachter in an interview with Forbes, "These announced changes are likely quite significant and should prove net positive versus last year."
