Galaxy Note 7 Update: Will Samsung Skip Galaxy Note 6 Name?

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is rumored to replace the Galaxy Note 6 when the Korean company unveils its next phablet. According to reports, Samsung may skip the name of the next flagship for marketing reasons.

However, there are also rumors that Samsung will name its next flagship in order to match with the Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy S7, and to make the consumers become aware of the new device. When Galaxy Note 5 was released in 2015, people have been expecting for the 2016 launch of Galaxy Note 6. According to reports, when Galaxy Note 6 was released, given its model number lower than Galaxy 7, it probably gave a wrong impression that it is an outdated phone, Tech Beasts reported.

Skipping numbers in a device series very common in all manufacturers. Recently, Microsoft has gone from Windows 8 to Windows 10. As for Samsung, it released the Samsung 23 smartphone after its original Samsung Z. In fact, some reports indicate that there is already a Samsung Z2 development underway, which makes some people believe that if the company skipped with the  Galaxy Note 6, it might use the name in its future device.

In addition, it was also noted in some blogs that  Apple has played with names of its smartphone in the past by not releasing iPhone 2 after its original iPhone. Rather, Apple launched the iPhone 3G and went on with their iPhone 4, 5, 6 and so one.

Skips in name sequences show that a product might include significant upgrades. According to reports, the Galaxy Note 7 or Note 6 may come with a USB Type-C port, a 6GB or RAM, major camera enhancements and many  more features. So far, it has not been confirmed yet if Samsung is going to include a curved display or if the Note Edge smartphone will come with a flat Note smartphone.

Samsung believed to announce their new devices in mid-August, the same way the Galaxy Note 5 was released on Aug. 13, 201, according to News Soft Pedia.
