Golden State Warriors Claims Victory, Heads Back To The NBA Finals
The Golden State Warriors is headed back to the finals.
After a nerve-cracking Western Conference Finals series, the Warriors emerged triumphant on Monday night, leaving Oklahama City Thunder behind. Game 7 ended with scores at 96-88.
It was a thrilling half-time as The Warriors trailed the Oklahoma Thunder at 48-42. Thunder's Russell Westbrook scores 14 points, while Kevin Durant had 9 points during the opening half. Warrior's Klay Thompson, meanwhile, had 13 points.
Overall, Stephen Curry and Thompson contributed much to the team's victory. Curry had 36 points, while Thompson had a total of 21 points.
With the results of the game, The Warriors just because the 10th team to rally from a 3-1 deficit that eventually win a postseason series, according to Statesman.
Oklahoma Thunder started with aggressive moves this season, but they seemingly failed to sustain it.
Thunder coach Billy Donovan was quoted in Yahoo Sports as he described The Warriors: "They won a world championship last year, and they've broken an NBA record, and people are already talking about it before the playoffs started, this may be the greatest team to ever lace up in the history of the NBA."
It can be recalled that Steve Kerr, coach of Warriors, stated that there will be alterations to the game plan. One of the apparent alterations was having Andre Igoudala in the start of Game
The team will come back to the finals to face the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James. It could have been a home-court advantage for the Cavaliers, but the game will be held in California.
The Guardian tagged the Thunder was "notorious for squandering leads in the final minutes of regular-season games." It added that the last quarter collapses were even worse than those of the Philadelphia 76ers.
Game 1 is scheduled on Friday, June 3rd.
