National Donut Day: These 9 Shops Are Giving Away Free Donuts

Friday, June 3rd, is the National Donut day and a number of shops across the country are offering free donuts on this special day. The first Friday in the month of June is being celebrated as the National Doughnut Day for decades.

"The idea for Donut Day began on the battlefields of France during World War I when Salvation Army workers served coffee and donuts to soldiers in the trenches," noted Salvation Army Website, according to CBS Chicago. It is also alleged that the National Donut day was celebrated to raise money for the needy during the Great Economic Depression.

Dunkin' donut is all set to treat the customers for the special day by giving a free donut for purchase of a drink. "Tick tock. It's almost time to get your FREE donut w/ any beverage purchase on #NationalDonutDay Friday 6/3!" tweeted the baker.

Duck Donut offers free donuts to those that visit their Facebook page, free snack is just a click away, so don't miss it. "Claim your FREE donut on National Donut Day, June 3rd! Click Here> Duck Donut Facebook Page," reported USA Today.

Krispy Kreme is offering free donuts on Friday probably with no demand. "Feel the love on #NationalDoughnutDay! A FREE doughnut of your choice, June 3 only in US/Can," tweeted the shop.

Few other shops also offer nice deal on the special day. Giant Eagle, Inc. has offered to give away six donuts free for customers that buy six donuts from the shop. You pay for six and take away 12 that indeed is a nice deal.

Cumberland Farms is giving free donuts for buying a fountain drink or coffee between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. There is also 25 percent off on all the donut purchase made in Glazed and Confuzed Doughnuts.
