British Couples Lack Intimacy, Choose To Watch 'Game Of Thrones' Than Make Love
As far as Britain is concerned, it is believed that couples have somehow shied away from sexual intercourse because of too much box sets and Netflix watching on their tablets or laptops. “Game of Thrones” is one of the more popular TV series seen today and has strangely been seen as the reason.
Depending on one’s take about intimacy or sexual intercourse, TV shows such as “Game of Thrones” finds itself as an unlikely culprit as far as couple opting to have less intercourse. With the attention centered more on what happens during episodes while in bed, a survey claims that the frequency of couples having sex have dipped by 20%.
Of course, “Game of Thrones” and other TV shows are not the only reasons why couples are having less sex. There are other reasons such as depression while there are ones who are not living together or not yet married.
But the strange reason of them all is apparently the attention that “Game of Thrones” and other TV shows have garnered which is technically a good sign as far as attention and popularity is considered. Is it fair to blame a TV show for being that addictive?
Another angle possibly tied up to people opting to follow the latest episode of shows like “Game of Thrones” is the medium to which they can be accessed. Netflix and box sets are available but the fact of it all is how one can watch them.
On a normal day, bed time is of course the best scenario to catch up on the latest “Game of Thrones” twist but technology may need to get some backlash as well. Well plotted TV shows are expected to hog a lot of the attention and time but accessing them is another.
So why not blame technology? Devices have been known to eat up much of people’s time as well so it may be fair to add that gadgets play a key role in all as well.
“It's generally thought now that this mass of connectivity that we now have, the constant checking of our phones, the amount of entertainment going on all at once, compared with just a few years ago when the TV used to close down at half past ten and there was nothing else to do, has affected the frequency of our sex,” said professor David Spiegelhalter of the University of Cambridge.
“Game of Thrones” is just one example and other shows contribute to this lack of intimacy claim among British couples as well. In the end, the blame may entirely fall on the couple seeking intimacy – that is if they are in the mood for one.
