Apple’s ‘Siri’ Feature Saves Baby’s Life
One feature that the iPhone brings is “Siri” and the feature has been added to offer a new dimension as far as interface is concerned.
Ideally “Hey Siri” would be reliable when it comes to making calls without having to search for contacts or other related commands that saves owners the trouble of keying in to the device. With the iPhone now voice-activated, “Hey Siri” has turned out to be a lifesaver when a mother was unable to find her phone during an emergency situation.
Stacey Gleeson from Cairns was in a bind when she found her one-year-old daughter turned as she was about to check on her.
"I picked her up and sat down with her on the floor and as I checked her airways … I looked over and remembered my phone," Gleeson told 7 News.
At that moment, Stacey’s first instinct was to locate her iPhone which she wasn’t able to locate at the time. Considering the panic that she may have been in, Stacey was able to gather her thoughts and remember that her iPhone had a voice-activated demand in “Siri”.
She eventually yelled “Hey Siri, call the ambulance” to which “Siri” acknowledged and placed the 911 call. After getting through, Stacey was able to perform timely CPR on her baby and get her breathing again.
“It's helped save our daughter's life and I never thought I'd have to go through something like that," Gleeson said.
The experience becomes a clear example on how the iPhone’s new “Hey Siri” service can be a life-changer especially in this situation. And now the parents of baby Giana are encouraging folks to enable the voice-activated feature which could at some point play a big difference.
The “Hey Siri” feature is technically a new one on the iPhone whose intent is to save people time and pressing on their devices.
For those who are unaware, all you have to do is head on over to your iPhone ‘Settings’, go to the ‘General’ part, and turn on ‘Hey Siri’.
Though the Gleeson case is something that becomes an accidental example, the fact is that using the “Hey Siri” feature can render life-changing moments so it may be best to keep it on in case of emergencies.
