Zoltan Istvan’s Transhumanism Advocates Artificial Intelligence: Artificial Intelligence Answer To Human Civilization
Zoltan Istvan believes that artificial intelligence will advance in 10 to 15 years. Such progress, according to the transhumanist politician, will address all of the concerns of the human civilization, including the slowing down or blocking of the aging process through the combination of technology and human selves.
For Istvan, the likelihood does not include in the field of weird science fiction. He thinks that artificial intelligence, which is a computer brain that is capable of doing anything which humans do, is about to come soon, and that the US should develop it first. He noted that the government must have a plan in order to deal with it before the "arms race of civilization" arrives.
Yet this is not the first ever Zoltan Istvan poll campaign. According to him, he has about 250,000 to one million supporters who are voting for him if needed, which puts him next to Pres. Barack Obama's total votes in the 2012 election. A rather good start, given the fact that the Transhumanit Party was just founded two years ago and has mostly been self-funded by Ivstan, The Guardian reported.
However, researchers on artificial general intelligence estimate on when the computers will be seen becoming as smart as humans, varying from "any minute now" to "never." They believe that developing an artificial program with the computing and the creative power of the human brain could be more unlikely altogether. But if it ever becomes possible, the capability of AGI to learn from it will immediately leave human thought behind. Whichever nation develops AGI first, it would be the time when the international political landscape begins to change.
The possibilities would be endless assuming that AGI is possible, as it is designed to support humanity, thereby achieving almost all the impossible tasks, including the blocking of the aging process. If that happens, an enormous energy to reverse climate change will be provided.
Istvan does not have any illusions of winning the presidency, as he would prefer a role in the administration to effectively implement his transhumanist concept. If given a chance, Ivstan says he would push for the widespread allocation of AGI's benefits to create government projects that could be accessed by everyone, according to Daily Mail.
