Tech giant Microsoft recently announced its next-generation game console, dubbed Xbox Scorpio, at the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 event. The company also announced a thinner and sleeker variant of its Xbox One, named Xbox One S.

Revealing more about Xbox Scorpio, Xbox marketing boss Aaron Greenberg said the upcoming console will be the company's most powerful console ever built.

"We're building a beast," Greenberg said during Microsoft's own E3 2016 coverage. "It's gonna be the most powerful console ever made, and as a guy who was here when we built the original Xbox, that being such a powerful box, and we pioneered with Xbox Live, and some of those innovative games, it really feels like we're getting back to our roots."

He added that Microsoft Xbox team members are quite excited about Scorpio.

"I think the team here, we're all gamers and we love what we do--and I've never seen the morale this high," Greenberg explained. "People are fired up about what we're delivering this year for our fans, and the vision of what we're doing with Project Scorpio. It's a pretty special time."

As far as Xbox Scorpio specs are concerned, the new gaming console will feature 8 cores, 320Gb memory bandwidth, and six teraflops of performance that will enable native and uncompressed 4K gaming. In addition, the Xbox Scorpio will also reportedly support virtual reality gaming. Microsoft is yet to announce a VR partner.

Spencer also said that the Scorpio will be four and a half times more powerful than the current Xbox One. Xbox Scorpio is scheduled to get a 2017 release date.

Talking about Xbox One S, the upcoming console is a miniaturized version of Xbox One. It is 40 percent slimmer and offers support for High Dynamic Range (HDR) gaming. It can also function as an Ultra HD Blu-ray player. The slimmer Xbox One will become available August this year.
