‘The Last Of Us 2' Release Date Update: Game To Arrive In 2018? Announcement In E3 2017?
While, game developer Naughty Dog is keeping mum about the second installment in the 'The Last of Us' franchise, possibly dubbed "The Last of Us 2," rumors suggest the highly anticipated game title will get a 2018 release date.
Fans were expecting the developers to announce 'The Last of Us' sequel at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 2016 event held last month, but there was no words from the makers. It is rumored that as Naughty Dog is currently still busy working on the "Uncharted 4" single-player DLC, the company has decided to postpone the game's announcement. Uncharted 4 is one of the biggest PS4 success stories of the year.
According to a report, Creative Director at Naughty Dog, Neil Druckmann, had already confirmed that the game is currently under development but will only be launched once "Uncharted 4's" game play gets completed.
"We were brainstorming ideas for The Last of Us 2 with new characters... with Joel and Ellie; ideas for a sci-fi game; ideas for a fantasy game, and building prototypes for each one of those ideas," Druckmann told PlayStation Magazine via Cinema Blend.
"And just as we were getting close to settling or narrowing that list down, we were asked to work on Uncharted 4," he added.
The easter egg found in the "Uncharted 4" indicates that the Last Of Us sequel would be named "Last of Us: American Daughters". The poster features a pregnant woman wearing a gas mask, who looks similar to Ellie, one of the lead characters in "The Last of Us."
It still remains unconfirmed whether "The Last of Us 2" will continue to follow the story of Ellie and Joel or consist of a new set of characters altogether.
As far as "The Last of Us 2" release date is concerned, it is rumored that Naughty Dog might reveal the highly anticipated game title in E3 2017.
