Google Nexus 2016 Release Date, Specs, Price: HTC Marlin Spotted On Benchmark Site, Launch Set In August?

While Google is keeping mum on the release date of its highly anticipated Nexus 2016 smartphones, rumors about the alleged Android N devices, internally named as S1 and M1 and codenamed "Marlin" and "Sailfish" are making quite a buzz these days.

Recently, Android Police reported the rumors specs and features of HTC Sailfish as well as HTC Marlin handsets. Now, HTC Nexus 2016 "Marlin" M1 smartphone has been spotted on GeekBench benchmarking site.

As per specs revealed in the benchmarking site, the supposed HTC Nexus "Marlin" device will feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a 1440 x 2560 resolution and run on a quad-core Qualcomm SoC, which is most likely the latest Snapdragon 820, with a recorded clock speed of 1.59GHz. The leak claims that the handset will come with 4 GB of random access memory (RAM) and include up to 128GB internal storage.

The handset is rumored to come packed with a 12-megapixel main camera enabled with LED flash and an 8-megapixel front facing camera. The HTC Nexus "Marlin" is also supposed to include USB Type-C port and a fingerprint reader. Two speaker grills are expected at the bottom of the device. The device will most probably come preinstalled with Google's latest mobile operating software Android "Nougat."

Rumor mills have it that HTC Sailfish phone will feature a 5-inch FullHD display, a Quad-core 2.0GHz 64-bit chip, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, a 12-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera and a 2,770mAh battery.

Other rumored specs include a rear panel fingerprint scanner, a USB Type-C port, bottom facing speakers, a top mounted headphone jack and Bluetooth 4.2. The smartphone is expected to run Google's upcoming operating system, Android Nougat. The device is expected to be a mid-range device.

As far as Google Nexus 2016 smartphones release date is concerned, the handsets are expected to get unveiled in August alongside Android Nougat.
