Nintendo Mini NES Console Release Date, Games, News: Online Connectivity Feature Missing?
Nintendo, on Thursday, announced it will roll out a new miniature version of its classic Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) this year on November 11. The NES Classic Edition system will come preloaded with 30 popular and recognizable NES games.
The original NES console was first released in the United States back in 1985. It was also known as the Family Computer, or Famicom in Japan. The new NES Classic Edition console looks almost exactly like the original NES, but it is comparatively smaller in size, reported GameSpot.

The $59.99. console will feature an HDMI port to allow users to plug it directly into high-definition television sets with one convenient cable. It will also come with an AC adapter, a HDMI cable, one controller and 30 built-in classic games including the original Super Mario Bros. trilogy, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, and Final Fantasy. It is to be noted that players will be able to buy extra controllers for $10.
When connected to a Wii Remote controller, the NES Classic Controller can also be used to play Virtual Console NES games on a Wii U or Wii system. Nintendo has confirmed that each game has multiple suspend points to allow players to pick up where they left off.
"We wanted to give fans of all ages the opportunity to revisit Nintendo's original system and rediscover why they fell in love with Nintendo in the first place," said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America President and COO.
"The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition is ideal for anyone who remembers playing the NES, or who wants to pass on those nostalgic memories to the next generation of gamers."
According to Kotaku, the console won't offer online connectivity feature which means users won't be able to connect their games with their Nintendo accounts. Also, the mini NES won't get any other games after launch.
