Samsung Serif TV will arrive in the United States this summer. Created in collaboration with renowned designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, the partnership marks the first time that Samsung has collaborated with a designer to re-envision not just how the television looks but also how it functions.

Samsung Serif TV 40-inch model will be available starting August and will be priced at $1,499. The TV will be offered in white across all retailers and in blue, exclusively through the MOMA Design Store and on Samsung.com, Samsung Newsroom reported. It will also be available at high-end design-centric retail partners, including Vitra, Bo Concept NY and Ligne Roset stores in major markets.

Samsung Serif TV was designed to seamlessly blend with home's furnishings. The idea was to create a stylish television with modern display technology that redefines the television experience. The Samsung Serif TV features a 4K UHD resolution, which provides four times the resolution of a full HD TV and an HDR premium technology to enhance the picture's color and brightness while creating a more natural and realistic image.

Meanwhile, senior Verge editor and leader of the "It's Definitely Ugly" camp Thomas Ricker says he finds the whole concept corny as there is too much bezel. The feature draws unnecessary attention to the appliance. He also said that he prefers to minimize his television's presence in his living room and referred to the Serif TV's design as an ornamentation. Ricker even added that there is nothing about the Serif TV that makes it a better TV, The Verge reported.

Samsung Serif TV was released in September 2015, solely for the European market. However, Samsung recently confirmed that they will be bringing the Serif TV to the US, with pre-sales already up on Samsung's website and in the MoMa Design Store.
