Chicago Restaurants With Great 'Pokemon Go' Hunting Deals
More and more people are on the hunt for rare Pokemon. Those elusive little monsters are now the driving force for Niantic's and Nintendo's success, and restaurants in Chicago want to ride the wave with them.
As Chicago launches its first meetup of trainers on Sunday in Millennium Park (with over 8,000 gamers in their RSVP list), restaurants are readying themselves to lure gamers into their stores by purchasing Pokemon bait that will last for 30 minutes. As gamers signal-boost their location on social media, these restaurants will be your number one spot for catching that Dratini you've been trying very hard to find.
Here are the hotspots that are luring both gamers and Pokemon into their establishments:
Emporium (2363 N. Milwaukee Ave.)
Emporium will have 3 Pokestops with Pokemon lures open all night on Sunday from 6 to 11 P.M. There will also be a charging station available for players.
Fatso's (6035 95th St., Oak Lawn)
Fatso's is the new Pokestop that serves ice cream to its customers. It's considering offering discounts to players in the future. "It's a family game, and we'd like to encourage that," said general manager Felicia Vithoulkas.
Eli's Cheesecake's Café (6701 West Forest Preserve Drive)
The company is offering free cheesecakes to players who broadcast that they checked into this Pokestop.
Pastoral (53 E. Lake St.)
For the weekend, Pastoral is offering 10 to 20 percent discounts based on the number of Pokemon players have collected in their Pokedex.
Godfrey Hotel (127 W. Huron St.)
There will be a PokeParty on Saturday from 1 to 5 P.M. at the 4th floor terrace bar where lures will be set up. In honor of the event, they will have a Squirtle-blue vodka tipple made with pineapple, strawberry and lychee purees and black tea, chilled with a red-and-white Pokeball ice sphere.
Aire at the Hyatt Centric (100 W. Monroe St.)
Aire is offering the Pikachu, a drink made with orange juice, grenadine, Absolut vodka and Red Bull garnished with two cherries. There is no lure set up for this establishment yet, but that might soon change.
Go forth trainer and catch 'em all!
