Samsung Gear VR 2 Release Date News, Rumors: Launch Set Alongside Galaxy Note 7 In August?
While Samsung is keeping mum about the release date of its highly anticipated next-generation virtual reality headset, possibly dubbed Samsung Gear VR 2, new reports suggest the launch may happen as soon as next month.
According to ITPro, Samsung's Gear VR 2 headset may get alongside the smartphone-tablet hybrid dubbed, Galaxy Note 7, at the Galaxy Unpacked press event, which is scheduled to happen on Aug. 2, 2016 in New York.
Recently, the next gen virtual reality headset was spotted on India's import and export database Zauba. The current Samsung VR headset has a product code SM-R322 and the device that was listed on Zauba had a product code SM-R323. This has led to speculations that the product listed could be a new VR headset from the tech giant.
There are reports which claim that the Galaxy Note 7 will come with a USB-C connection, which has previously been rumored. This next-generation I/O port would require a fresh Gear VR model in order for it to be connected to the device. This could probably be a good reason for Samsung to roll out an upgraded virtual reality headset.
It is rumored that the smartphone giant has allegedly made the Gear VR 2 specifically for the Note 7 and future upcoming phones that only have Type-C USB ports.
GameNGuide reported that the much-anticipated updated Samsung Gear VR 2 may offer wireless virtual reality that does not necessarily need a physical hardware or PC. In fact, during Samsung's developers conference, which was held in San Francisco, Samsung's head of R&D for software had confirmed that the company is working on developing wireless VR devices. However, no official confirmation came from the company if Gear VR 2 is included in the list.
We advise our readers to take the information with a grain of salt as nothing yet about Samsung Gear VR 2 release date, specs and features.
