"Pokemon Go" developer Niantic released v0.31.0 update for "Pokemon Go" for improvements, new features and minor bug fixes. The v0.31.0 update adjusted battle damage values, refined Gym animations, improved memory issues, enhanced "Pokemon" details on screen and fixed bugs during wild "Pokemon" encounters.

The new update also allows "Pokemon Go" players to re-customize their Avatars at any point in the game. Initially, players were only allowed to pick their Avatar at the beginning of the game. The damage calculation in Gym battles was also improved.

A new feature that allows "Pokemon Go" players to lock a Pokemon to avoid transferring them accidentally to another location has also been integrated. In the v0.31.0 update, some security-related warnings like "don't drive" and "do not trespass while playing "Pokemon Go" were also included inside the game's interface because of the many accidents that happened recently while playing the game.

However, aside from the improvements, the new update lead some "Pokemon Go" players to restart their game. It has been reported that after updating to v0.31.0, the in-game progress has been erased, forcing players to start the game from the beginning.

"Pokemon Go" players took to social media in disbelief after the update reset their in-game progress, The Telegraph reported. There are players who, after reaching level 20, had to restart the game from level 1 because of the new update. Some players already complained to the developer and asked the company to give them a refund or return their in-game progress back.

"Pokemon Go" developer Niantic said that they updated the app's Google account login system as part of the v0.31.0 update, NBC News reported.  They believe that some players may have just accidentally created another "Pokemon Go" account by using a different Google mail address login than the one originally used for the game. They assured the players that the gameplay progress has not been lost and remains safe and intact. Full patch notes in the video below.
