"Minecraft" Windows 10 edition is reportedly adding support for the Oculus Rift VR headset as confirmed in a blog post by "Minecraft" maker Mojang. Microsoft and Mojang are celebrating the first year anniversary of "Minecraft's" launch on the Windows 10 platform.

Without going into the specifics of the release date, the pair announced that a free update will land in the next few weeks that brings VR support for the Oculus Rift. To redeem the free access, "Minecraft" Windows 10 Edition and Oculus Rift owners will just need to log into their Mojang account and click the redeem button. "Minecraft" Executive Producer Jesse Merriam wrote in a blog post that they want the game fans to think of it as a thank you gesture for their continued support for the game over the past year.

A "Minecraft" VR version is already available to Gear VR and HTC Vive, so this is not the first time that the game will land on a virtual reality territory. However, it has been hard to work on the Oculus Rift to deliver an immersive experience that will take the game players one step deeper into the game, International Business Times reported.

In celebration of their anniversary, Mojang is also releasing a free roller coast map for "Minecraft" that is available for download, Hot Hardware reported. A new Villains Skin Pack will also be released for $1.99 that contains a total of 17 skins, a few of which will be given away absolutely free of charge. Some of these skins include the Dungeon Spectre, the Cake Maniac, the Terror Spawner, the Patchkin, the Eyece, the Slymime and the Endergaunt.

"Minecraft" Windows 10 Edition has pushed out 15 major updates with dozens of new features in its first year. The game has counted more than 12,000 code check-ins and has crushed over 6,000 bugs for what has become a worldwide smash hit. Watch the full "Minecraft" Windows 10 gameplay walkthrough here.
