The National Park Service (NPS) celebrates its 100th birthday on August 25. In honor of its centennial birthday, the NASA unveils the National Parks from space. The NASA Earth's Observatory have been gathering satellite images of the national parks for years.

National Park Service was founded in 1916 to preserve the unimpaired natural and cultural resources and values of the National Park System for the education, enjoyment and inspiration of this and future generations. Together with their partners, they extend benefits of natural and cultural resource conservation and outdoor recreation throughout this country and the world, according to USA Today.

The National Park Service is offering a free entry to parks across the country from August 25 to August 28. They also have classical music performance, solar-powered vehicle races and outdoor naturalization ceremonies, among others that you can freely enjoy while reminiscing the nature around, according to Time. The following images of parks were taken from outer space by NASA.
