Google Nexus 2016 Release Date, Specs, Price Update: Mid-Range Nexus Smartphones To Run Android 7.1 Nougat?
While, Nexus fans have been eagerly waiting for the release of the highly anticipated Google Nexus 2016 flagships codenamed HTC "Marlin" and HTC "Sailfish," there's still no word from the makers. However, new reposts suggest the next gen Nexus smartphones will get released in late September or early October. The handsets are expected to get unveiled alongside Google's latest mobile OS, Android Nougat.
According to Vine Report, the upcoming Google Nexus 2016 handsets will come preinstalled Android 7.1 Nougat. In fact, David Ruddock, who is the Editor at Android Police, also posted a tweet which said the next-gen Nexus phones will feature Android 7.1 N. there's currently no information on how the Android N 7.1 variant will differ from the current OS. It is reported that the Google Nexus 2016 smartphone will be sold through the Google Playstore. While, the 32GB version of Nexus Marlin will come with a price tag of $599, the 32GB Sailfish version will sell for $449, according to Nexusblog.
As far as specs of the upcoming Google Nexus 2016 handsets are concerned, the HTC Marlin is expected to feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a 1440 x 2560 resolution and the HTC Nexus Sailfish is rumored to feature a 5-inch display with a full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Both the handsets are rumored to get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4 GB of random access memory (RAM), 32 GB of native storage space, a 13-megapixel main camera enabled with LED flash and an 8-megapixel front facing camera. It is possible that the high end Nexus Marlin might run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor instead.
There are also reports which claim that Google will also release Nexus 7 2016 tablet along with the Nexus 2016 smartphones. We advise our readers to take the information with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed yet.
