Apple’s Project Titan: Make A Car Or Make Cars Smart?
There has been a lot of buzz about Apple building an electric smart car. The project which is named 'Titan' has been the center of rumors and speculations. Apple's actions, on the other hand, have sent some mixed signals.

Is Apple Making Cars?
As reported in PC Mag, Creative Strategies analyst Tim Bajarin believes Apple is not building a car. There is a lot of competition in the automotive sector and profit margins are very low. It does not make sense for Apple to enter a saturated segment, with so many established players.
Tim also believes the recent layoffs are due to Bob changing the focus and trying to run a tight ship. There were also rumors of Apple investing or acquiring British sports car makers Mclaren. But Mclaren spokesperson has denied the rumors.
Apple Will Make The Existing Cars Smart
Bajarin believes it would make sense if rather building care from a scratch Apple will make existing cars smart by developing some hardware or software. Apple can build some self-driving kits that can be fitted into the existing cars.
These can open a whole new market for existing Apple products too. Ipads could be used at the point of access for the auto-driving kit which will boost the sales of Ipad too. These can also be beneficial for the customer as it would be much cheaper than buying a self-driving car.
Leaked Footage of Apple's Car
In a recent Linkedin post, Dan Lyons, said, "think of a car as just a container for software and services, a node on the Internet of Things. I believe this is at the heart of what Project Titan is really all about."
Only time will take which path will Apple take to enter the car segments. Whatever Apple's Project Titan decides to do we can be rest assured ours cars are about to become smart.
