Since the launch of Uber people have wondered, how we can get a free Uber ride. The only way to get a free Uber ride was with promo offers or codes. Not anymore, A New Jersey town, Summit has partnered with Uber to provide free and subsidized rides to solve parking problems.

By giving free Uber rides, Summit's leaders wish to solve the problems of the overcrowded parking lot. Uber's New Jersey General Manager Ana Mahony, said, "When parking space at the train station ran out, Summit's leaders wanted to solve the problem and help give Summit's residents a modern transportation alternative," as reported by Cnet.

Although Free Uber rides may sound absurd but free rides will solve a major parking problem. According to an estimate by Summit officials about 100 parking spaces could be free by providing free uber rides.Summit city will save roughly $5 Million by not constructing more parking lots.

Free Uber rides will be provided to the Summit residents with prepaid parking permits during the weekday commute stations, To and Fro from the train stations.  Residents without prepaid parking permits will not get a free uber ride but will get a subsidized ride at $2. Summit town will pay the difference and cost for the free Uber rides.

Giving free Uber rides will in no way cause any loss of revenue for Uber. On the contrary, Uber will be able to open up new revenue sources and access untapped customers.

It is not just Summit that is giving free Uber rides, according to Andrew Saltzberg, head of transportation policy at Uber, about half a dozen towns are already in talks with Uber to offer similar free rides for its residents.

The Free Uber rides in the present case may only be a trial but it gives us a peek into the future of public transport. Let us hope it work out, for all of us to become a better and environmentally responsible society. Till then enjoy the free Uber rides.
