Man Dies On Flight: Cause of Death to United Airlines Passenger still Unknown
When a male passenger boarded United Flight 5596 from Denver to Salt Lake City, unfortunately, it would be his last time up in the air.
According to Utah TV station KSL, Jared Noall, a combat medic with the Army Reserve who happened to be on board, assisted with performing CPR until paramedics arrived on the ground.
Passengers reported that Noall had appeared to be sleeping on the flight most of the way, until the plane landed. "I asked, 'Hey, sir, are you awake?'" Noall told the television station. "I shook him a bit, trying to see if I could get a response out of him. We checked his throat for a pulse, and it wasn't there. So we laid him down in the aisle and start CPR."
Using an on-board defibrillator, Noall and two others assisted in providing the man CPR until paramedics arrived according to KSL. The medic and the paramedics worked on this man for a combined 90 minutes before declaring him dead.
However, after an hour, the man was pronounced dead. The identity of the man has not yet been released. Reports show that the man is believed to be in his 30s.
"(We) just thought he had found the sweet spot where he was comfortable and could sleep," Noall said, according to KSL.
Unfortunately, reports regarding cause of death have not yet been released.
A United spokeswoman confirmed to KSL that a passenger on the flight died, but would not release any details because of privacy concerns according to USA Today.
