While, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has not announced anything about the highly anticipated Xiaomi Mi Note 2 smartphone, rumors about the release date, features, specs and pricing details of the handset have been flooding the web for quite some time now.

Recently, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun took to Weibo to reveal that Mi Note 2 has already gone into mass production, hinting that the smartphone's release is just round the corner. Now, in an effort to increase curiosity about Xiaomi Mi Note 2 among fans, Jun has teased that the smartphone will come with a 'surprise,' reported BGR. Unfortunately, there is no information on what the surprise could be. Tech enthusiasts are expecting it may be something related to the handset's hardware or pricing.

Talking about Xiaomi Mi Note 2 specs, the upcoming handset is expected to feature a 5.5.-inch to 5.7-inch QHD dual-edge curved display with 2560×1440 pixel resolution, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor clocking at 2.6GHz, 6GB of RAM, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB onboard storage options, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based MIUI 8, a 4,000mAh battery and Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 support. The handset is rumored to feature 16-megapixel dual-camera setup and a 5-megapixel front camera. Rumored connectivity options for the handset include 4G LTE with VoLTE HD voice calling support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, NFC and GPS.

There are also reports which claim that Xiaomi might roll out the handset in two variants. The high end Mi Note 2 Pro is expected to flaunt a massive 8GB of RAM, 256GB of onboard storage and Android 7.0 Nougat-based MIUI 8. As far as Xiaomi Mi Note 2 pricing is concerned, the handset is expected to cost around RMB 2,499 for the 64GB variant and RMB 2,799 for the 128GB model. The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 release date is slated to happen sometime next month.
