Researchers discovered a cave art dated 14,500 years old on the Iberian Peninsula. It is considered the most spectacular and impressive cave art on the Iberian Peninsula ever discovered.

The discovery of 50 etchings was found in the Armintxe cave in the Basque town of Lekeitio in Spain in May. These include images of goats, bison, horses and two lions. Andoni Iturbe, a senior local official said that the Armintxe cave is extremely difficult to access and located under a residential building in the center of Lekeitio in the Basque country in Spain. Meanwhile, the Iberian Peninsula is inhabited by the Basques, who are only pre-Celtic people survives up to present day.

One of the etchings of the horse showed a horse with about 150 cm (4 ft. 11 in) long. Biscay official Unai Rementeria described the discovery as a wonder and a treasure of humanity. The Biscay experts are the ones investigating the said impressive cave art as of today, according to BBC News.

The etchings were found on the 15m long panel of the cave, which is about 50 meters in length. The cave will not be accessible to the public to preserve the paintings. On the other hand, the authorities say they will utilize a technology to give the public a good view of the new discovery.

Likewise, earlier this year, a hidden gallery of ancient paintings was found in Atxurra cave in norther Spain. It is located 50 km from the Basque city Bilbao. There were about 70 cave paintings found in the said cave dating as far back as 14,500 years ago. This holds the largest number of ancient paintings mostly images of animals in Basque County, according to Daily Mail.
