Google Pixel, Pixel XL Price: What Could Have Google Done Better?
Google proves its excellence yet again in the software and hardware category, with the launch of Pixel and the Pixel XL phones. With these two new Google phones 2016, it aims to offer a substitute for the two popular Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models. These new models sure make the Google Nexus a thing of the past, and make them worthy rivals of the iPhone 7 series.
The search giant made its way into the Android based smartphone market with the Google Nexus models, and now with the new name "Pixel moniker", Google steps into a far niche market that competes with the tech giant Apple. The name Pixel was previously used for its premium laptops and tablets. The new phones are intended for the consumer market rather than the developer as was the case with Google Nexus. According to Mirror, Google claims that the pixel smartphones are the first phones built solely by them inside and out. Google takes charge of both the software and the hardware aspects of the new phones with the Android version 7 "nougat" as they call it, just as Apple.
The Pixel phones will be depicted as the finest Android devices and the epitome of smartphones that showcases greatest achievement in the form of technological prowess. However, there's only one glitch that hampers all the excellence that could have been controlled by Google and that it priced the phone incorrectly, says Forbes.
Although, the Google Pixel smartphones make for one of the most popular buys in the exclusive market, the price of a gadget has a distinguished effect on how it is seen. While there are some who are investing in the phone eyes closed due to the SIM-free concept and the no carrier allowance aspect, the price does leave a deeper impact.
Something that is of better quality, offers added features, and advanced functionalities, is always perceived to be expensive. Among two individual phones with two different price ranges, the general buyer usually picks up the one with the highest price considering it has more and better features. What's even worst is the way Google has priced its two really capable phones that is $649 for the 32 GB as the starting price for the Pixel's that goes upto $849 for the Google Pixel XL 128 GB variant. Now, that's exactly the same price that the Apple iPhone 7's 32 GB and the 128GB variant of the iPhone 7 Plus is tagged at.
We had witnessed Sony making the same mistake in the past with its Sony Xperia Z range. With that super camera, and the long battery life along with the smart headphone jack, Google could have comfortably priced its Pixels higher than the iPhone 7 series.
