Apple iPhone 7 Catches Fire: Will It Go Down The Samsung Road?

Top phones catching fire has become the order of the day.Now new reports surface claiming an iPhone 7 caught fire and destroyed the car.

Mat Jones, a surfer claims he left the phone in his car wrapped in a pair of trousers on the beach as he went in the waters. He said, on returning he found smoke emitting from the car. As reported on a local news channel 7 news, "As I looked into my car you could not see inside the car like all the windows were just black."

Mat Jones claims he was certain that iPhone 7 had caught fire first and was the source of fire inside his car. When the surfer was able to remove the burning trousers, he found phone was just melting inside. as reported by Yahoo News.

Video Footage of the fire taken from another phone showed charred front seats and dashboard. Jones said, "pretty much just like a big heat wave just came out of the car".

The news that iPhone 7 catches fire has sent the iPhone 7 owners in uncertainty. Not so long ago, Samsung's Note 7 were reported of catching fire. The replacement provided by Samsung had also caught fire.

Following the fire crisis, Samsung has discontinued the Galaxy Note 7. Apart from losing billion of dollars, Samsung has also suffered an irreparable damage to its brand image, customers have lost faith in the quality of Samsung products.

This is not the first incident of iPhone catching fire. Back in August 2016, an iPhone 6 had exploded in the back pocket of an Australian man after he fell on his back pocket from his bike. He was left with severe burns on his legs. Lithium-ion batteries can catch fire because of physical damage or overheating.

In the present case, the Australian man claims he has not used an external charger or over charge his phone. The iPhone 7 was only a week old. As reported in Guardian, an Apple spokesperson said, "We're in touch with the customer and we're looking into it."

Until the time the reason behind iPhone 7 catching fire is revealed, you might not want to keep it in your pockets.
