Google has recently launched the most awaited smartphones of 2016 dubbed Google Pixel and Pixel XL. There's no doubt that the latest Pixel smartphones are packed with top notch specs and features which has already made them fan favorite. In fact, the Google Pixel handsets are currently the best Android devices available in the market.

Although the new Google Pixel smartphones are packed with excellent specs and features which make them worth buying, the handsets carry a meager IP53 dust and water resistance rating. The IP53 certification implies that smartphone owners would need to extra cautious about the handsets and keep them away from water. Notably, Google Pixel competitors including Apple iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphones have better water and dust resistance rating.

In order to test Google Pixel's water resisting capabilities, YouTuber Harris Craycraft took the risk of putting the handset into water only to find out that the device stood up to the challenges. Craycraft completely submerged the handset into a jug of water for around thirty minutes. To his surprise, the Google Pixel, which has an IP53 rating with almost no water resistance, survived the test with flying colors. It was found that even after completely being completely submerged for almost half an hour, the smartphone worked fine with both the charger port and speaker working properly.

Another popular YouTuber, Jonathan Morrison, dunked the Google Pixel into water for a full hour. Surprisingly, the smartphone survived this test as well. However, the handset's speaker was affected.

It is to be noted that despite surviving the water tests, it cannot be guarantee that the Google Pixel is completely water resistant. We would strictly advise our readers to not try this at home. Nevertheless, the test proves that smartphones users now have another great reason to buy Google Pixel smartphones.
