OnePlus3 to get update before OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X?
GSMArena reports that the users who own the newer OnePlus 3 model would be given a higher priority, as compared to the users who still use the earlier OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X Versions. The reports also state that the Android 7.0 Nougat update would only be released for the OnePlus X and OnePlus 2 devices after a month or two from the time the new update is launched for the OnePlus 3.
If this is true then the users who own the earlier OnePlus 2 and X models, will only be able to install the Android 7.0 Nougat update later in January 2017. Pete Lau, OnePlus' CEO has shared an image earlier during a recent Reddit Ask Me Anything session, showing the engineers of the company working on the upcoming Android 7.0 Nougat update, with a tagline stating that OnePlus is already doing hard work to bring the latest and greatest updates to its devices.
Will the update be available before Christmas?
OnePlus earlier in an official announcement had informed its customers about the company's plans of rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat Update for its OnePlus 3 handset by the end of 2016. With his latest tweet, Lau has partly confirmed that the Android 7.0 Nougat update will most probably light up the OnePlus 2, 3 and X screens this Christmas.

As the OnePlus 3 phone itself came with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow pre-installed, there is no doubt that the company is actually determined to bring the latest updates of the Android OS to its devices. The OnePlus 2 phone has been confirmed to receive the update by Carl Pei, co-founder of OnePlus, in his recent interview with the XDA developers.
However, there has been no official news about the Android 7.0 Nougat coming on the OnePLus X. Still, those users who want the latest update can alternatively load up the CyanogenMod on their OnePlus X, which would enable the Android 7.0 Nougat Update to be installed on their smartphones. Of course, there is no guarantee that the new OS update will work without any problems.
Why install the Android 7.0 Nougat Update?
The new Android 7.0 Nougat update will enable the Oneplus smartphones to support Quick Switch, a multi-window support, VR (Daydream) support along with bundled and interactive notifications. Instant app access and seamless updates are yet other features of the Android 7.0 Nougat.
The new OS update also features a data saver mode that prevents apps from using mobile data in the background. The mode also enables the smartphone users to configure the devices so that the apps get updated only when a Wi-Fi connection is present.
Along with the OnePlus2, 3 and X devices, a number of other smartphones including Samsung, LG, Nexus, Sony, Motorola and HTC, will get the new Android 7.0 Nougat update. Stay tuned to SWR for more news about the Android 7.0 Nougat update.
