2017 Camaro ZL1 Outplays At Nordschliefe With A Huge Triumph: Nürburgring Track Record Set At 7:29.60! [VIDEO]
The upcoming 2017 Camaro ZL1 is scheduled to release any month now and it has already made an impression. The recent video uploaded by Chevrolet speaks of what the soon-to-reveal Camaro ZL1 can accomplish. The car gave an extraordinary lap time of 7:29.60 at the Green Hell race track in Nürburgring.
For those who do not understand what 7:29.60 signifies, the Chevrolet's 2017 Camaro ZL1 was able to beat its previous model by 11.67 seconds. It also surpassed the fifth-generation Z/28 by 7.87 seconds. But, it was still unable to beat a few big players such as the C6 ZR1 which is still 10 seconds faster than the upcoming Camaro ZL1.
We expected the car to be fast, but there were little expectations for the car to perform this well. The current lap time places the car at 30th position among the fastest cars to ever race in Nürburgring, Nordschleife. The position makes it surpass the previous position holder, the Mercedes SLS AMG GT. Now the Chevvy beast positions itself right after the legendary Porsche Carrera GT.
2017 Camaro ZL1 beats the Shelby GT350R:
We know a number of Shelby fans could get disappointed to hear this, but the Chevrolet ZL1 2017 was able to beat Shelby GT350R's record of 7:32.19 by 2.59 seconds as well. Shelby was the previous track record holder for the fastest lap in Nürburgring. But, now that title has been officially taken by the 2017 Camaro. Here is the complete list of the cars Camaro ZL1 surpassed.
Chevrolet finally comes back with a bang with the Camaro ZL1 2017. But, there are other rumors about Chevrolet's C7 Z06 to complete the track lap at jsut 6:59.13. If that is true, then it would place the company in direct rivalry with Porsche 918. We still have to see updates on that for now.
There had been speed limits set after the recent Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 accident at Nordschliefe in March 2015. But, now the limits have been revoked again letting various manufacturers try their luck to set lap records again. The infamous Nürburgring track is the perfect place to know the capabilities of a car and manufactures from all over the world try their luck there.
