Google Pixel And Google Pixel XL: Top 5 Reasons You Would Probably Not Buy One
Google Pixel and Pixel XL are the latest phones by Google and they seem quite popular these days. But, not all will look forward to buying them because of the following reasons. Let us take a look at them.
Top 5 Reasons Why To Avoid Google Pixel and Pixel XL:
1. Highly Expensive:
With a starting price tag of $650, it seems like Google plans on establishing itself beside the premium phones like iPhone 7. As a matter of fact, all the prices for the various Google Pixel variations are somewhat the same as that of Apple's latest flagship devices.
- Pixel 32GB & iPhone 7 32GB: $649
- Pixel XL 32GB & iPhone 7 Plus 32GB: $769
- Pixel 128GB & iPhone 7 128GB: $749
- Pixel XL 128GB & iPhone 7 Plus 128GB: $869
Google does not have a 256GB model which is the only variation. But, when you bundle up a purchase on Google Pixel XL 128GB, a Pixel Protect, and a Google Live Case, you will have a bill of over $1000 without any taxes. You do get contract options for it in the U.S. But, not anywhere else internationally.
2. Absence Of A Waterproof Body:
Waterproof bodies is highly expected at least on expensive phones. But, Google Pixel and Pixel XL does not have one, which is a complete disappointment. Even iPhone 7 has it now, and that makes a lot of customers happy.
According to rumors, Google had little time to work on the waterproof casing with HTC. The project Pixel was carried out rather recklessly, if we think of it. It is better to launch a phone late rather than bring out an under-achieved phone. You only get an IP53 certified body which means that the phone can resist wetness and rainy days. But, if you plan on underwater snorkelling or swimming with it, then it's time to say goodbye to the latest Google flagship device.
3. Speaker Location Not So "User-Friendly"
For the ones who hold phones in landscape while using a finger to balance the side of the device, this could be a problem. Apparently, this is going to mute the speakers as your finger is right on the speaker opening. Similar case is faced when the device is kept in portrait mode as the speaker gets muted when you hold it from the bottom.
This might bug you if you were a fan of the front-facing speakers on the Nexus 6P and Nexus 6. Even Apple has revamped its speaker design and added a front-facing speaker on the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. What does Google have to say about this now?
4. Unstable Video Stabilization:
While Google's video stabilization is great, but it is not the best around. There have been issues with the stabilization when the digital noise increases in videos Even the panning is slow when used. You can see what we mean by this issue in the video below.
With high hopes, we do speculate this issue to be resolved through an update by Google in the future. Google's latest EIS is quite commendable but these issues might leave a bad mark, so the company should fix it ASAP.
5. Glass Body Increases Brittleness
Glass bodies were popular a few years ago. But, now manufacturers look forward to avoid such designs. The main reason is due to scratches and fragility of the device. Imagine, dropping it real hard and finding the glass at the back shattered. Ouch! Now that's going to hurt!
So, these are our 5 issues that would most likely make users avoid the Google Pixel or Pixel Xl from buying. But, if you still are looking forward to get one, then go for it. After all, the specs packed on this device are still one of the best in the market.
