Microsoft has gone the Apple way by combining its own hardware and software in its new desktop PC Surface Studio. As it turns out the specification of Surface Studio make it a direct competitor with Apple's iMac with retina display.

Microsoft's Surface Studio features a 28- inch display with a 193ppi resolution and a touchscreen. Apple's iMac has a 27-inch screen with 217 ppi resolution. Technically iMac has a better and sharper display. The difference is not that huge and considering the size it will not impact the picture quality.

The surface studio is equipped with an i7 processor and 32 GB RAM and a Nvidia GTX 980M, while iMac is powered by an Intel Core i5, two 4 GB RAM and AMD M395X. Surface Studio is clearly better than iMac in terms of hardware. Although iMac has options of upgrading but it is still far behind its competition.

In terms of storage the highest version of iMac provides 3TB whereas maximum Surface Studio can offer is 2TB. Both the computers are packed with different graphics but for most uses both give decent performance, reported Pocket-Lint.
