Apple iPhone Sales Goes Down For 2016’s Fourth Quarter

One of the tech giant smartphone manufacturers worldwide, Apple, recently announced that their iPhone sales for the last quarter of the year did go down compared to last year. The release of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s way back two years ago was considered as one of the company's biggest success in terms of sales. The said success even continued last year for the smartphone company.

According to reports, Apple sold five percent fewer of iPhones in 2016 last quarter as compared to last year's last quarter. The Cupertino reportedly sold 45.5 million iPhones for 2016's fourth quarter comparing it from the 48 million sales from 2015's fourth quarter.

According to CNET.com, the iPhone 6 and 6s met the expectations of many of iPhone users all around the globe which led into their decision in not having the new iPhone 7. Some of the smartphone consumers worldwide are even considering having new phones like Google's Pixel and Pixel XL rather than having the new iPhone 7. Although Apple is experiencing a dip on their sales this year, Tim Cook, Apple's CEO still declared success from gaining ample of sales from their new released products, Business Wire reported.

"Our strong September quarter results cap a very successful fiscal 2016 for Apple," said Tim Cook . "We're thrilled with the customer response to iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and Apple Watch Series 2, as well as the incredible momentum of our Services business, where revenue grew 24 percent to set another all-time record."

Apple's CFO, Luca Maestri also shared some good news to their investors as Apple will be returning dividends to them.

"We are pleased to have generated $16.1 billion in operating cash flow, a new record for the September quarter," said Maestri, Apple's CFO. "We also returned $9.3 billion to investors through dividends and share repurchases during the quarter and have now completed over $186 billion of our capital return program."

Despite the drop of sales for Apple's iPhone, the company continues to be a leader globally as manufacturer of new technologies such as iPhones and Mac computers.
