Germany's Roman Catholic Church Pushes for Radical Change, Rape Victims Can Use Morning-After Pill

Remember the days when women were sold as property and couldn't vote? Well, if you're yearning for that nostalgic feeling, you can find similar values in today's Catholic Church.

Women can't hold positions of power, and they're basically put on earth to push out babies-and lots of them, assuming they're practicing the rhythm method. However, some radicals are making staunch changes. They're actually allowing rape victims the option to use the morning-after pill.

Germany's Roman Catholic bishop said that hospitals run by the church could provide women who had been raped with versions of the morning-after pill that prevent fertilization.

After a rape victim was recently turned away from two hospitals run in Cologne, the church took a lot of heat for not giving women the option to use emergency contraception.

As the bishops said they had never heard of various forms of contraception, after consulting with medical experts and the Vatican, they agreed that administering drugs that would not abort a fertilized egg were justified in cases of rape.

The bishops added that the new policy would be discussed with hospitals run by the church to ensure that "women who have been the victims of rape are provided human, medical, psychological and pastoral support," which could include "administration of the morning-after pill."

It's simply scary to see such grandeur changes in the church. With such leaps and bounds, we have to wonder what's coming next? Perhaps homosexuals will be welcomed with open arms and allowed to marry. Perhaps women will be allowed to also hold positions of power or couples can use rubbers or alternate forms of birth control. In reality, probably not when a bunch of old white men are in charge, but we can dream, right?
