Xiaomi has been successful in manufacturing smartphones in China. New reports suggest, the Chinese company is also prepping to launch smartphones in the United States. The Chinese smartphone maker is reportedly going to start manufacturing smartphones especially for the US market starting sometime next year.

Hugo Barra, Xiaomi's Global V shared in an interview that they have been actively performing smartphones tests in the US. Reports are that the company will collaborate with popular phone carriers for their US debut, Android Police reported.

"Earlier this year we had a special version of Mi 5 that we made just for testing in the US, just so that we can start testing and doing small-field trials to sharpen our chops, if you will," Barra said. "We're not going to launch something until we're ready."

One of the rumoured carriers that Xiaomi will be working with is AT&T. Although it is still unclear, some reports said that Xiaomi's partnership with the carrier needs to be deliberately planned before the launch. AT&T is using Band 17 for their LTE connection. Being a rarely used band, Xiaomi's partnership with AT&T requires tight cooperation from both companies.

Xiaomi Mi 5 was released last February in China. If everything goes as planned then Xiamoi Mi 5 might get rolled out for the US customers soon. Xiaomi Mi 5 features a 1.8GHz Quad-Core 820 chipset, Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and a 16-megapixel rear camera. In fact, Mi 5 is considered as one of the best camera phones, Mobile & APPS reported.

We would advise our readers to take the information with a big grain of salt as nothing yet has been confirmed by Xiaomi. Stay tuned to SWR for more updates and latest information about Xiaomi's US debut.
