New Google Daydream View VR Headset To Hit Store Shelves Soon
Virtual reality and augmented reality enthusiasts are all set to have a good day on November 10 as Google announced the launch date of its new mobile VR headset - the Google Daydream View VR Headset. Fans of Google products as well as casual consumers can get their hands on the newest VR hardware in a matter of weeks. The new Google Daydream View VR Headset will be available and is ready to give users the experience almost as good as the high-end realia of Oculus Rift.
Using the Google Pixel phone as the main source of media, you can slip on the smartphone on the new Google Daydream View VR Headset to get an amazing VR experience. This new VR platform - Google Daydream, is viewed as the next big thing for Android VR devices. Google unveiled the Google Daydream VR platform during the I/O 2016 conference. The new platform will make the world of virtual reality and its content easier to access.
While this new headset is geared towards using Android phones as the main source of content, it differs from Google's initial VR program - the Google Cardboard. The Google Cardboard focuses on a budget friendly, build-it-yourself headset while the new Google Daydream View VR Headset is the first commercial VR headset using the Daydream platform.
Moreover, the main difference of the Google Daydream View VR headset from the Google Cardboard is that it is an Android-only headset. It also has a minimum standard requirement that allows users to have good image quality, responsiveness and other significant functions. Also, the Daydream View has a multi-button handheld remote that lets the users to interact with the VR world. Included in the Daydream View Headset, the controller has a clickable touchpad.
Aside from the Google Daydream View Headset and the Google Cardboard, the Google Daydream platform can be used by other VR headsets as long as it meets Google's specification. The user only needs to use a Daydream-ready Android smartphone. As of the moment, the Daydream View VR Headset needs Google's newest smartphone, the Pixel or the Pixel XL to work. Users of other Android smartphones will have to wait as Google will announce the list of Daydream View compatible phones in the near future.
The Google Daydream View Headset is pegged at a reasonable $79 price tag.
