Nintendo Assures Wii U Production Not Ending Any Soon
Recently, rumors about Nintendo pulling the plug in the production of Wii U this week surfaced online. However, the rumors turned out to be false after the company denied the report stating that it is "not true".
According to multiple sources Eurogamer in their website claimed that the last Wii U console will be produced this Friday. Eurogamer, stated in their article that "Nintendo declined to comment when contacted about this article".
Responding to the report a Nintendo spokesperson said in an interview with Japanese site IT Media that, "There is no change to our continuing [Wii U] production." Oddly, the spokesperson stated in his or her denial that he or she has no idea about the details of the Eurogamer article. The spokesperson, however, clearly stated that the report that Nintendo is stopping Wii U production "was not true".
This report surfaced in the midst of the clamor and interest for Nintendo's yet to be released gaming console Nintendo Switch. "Even though the Nintendo Switch is slated to go on sale, [Wii U] production is scheduled to continue."
IT Media on their report added that there are still gaming titles that will be release for the Wii U gaming console. Earlier, similar reports of the Wii U production stoppage has surfaced. Back in March, Nikkei, a Japanese newspaper reported that Nintendo is preparing to seize operation on the production of the Wii U to give way for the production of the new Nintendo Switch.
On their part, the Japanese company also issued a denial of this report. Nintendo stated "From the next quarter and thereafter as well, production [of the Wii U] is scheduled to continue." Meanwhile in the succeeding month, company president Tatsumi Kimishima declared that Nintendo would reduce the amount of production of the Wii U consoles.
Nintendo fans and casual gamers will have to watch out for the news, as Nintendo has a reputation of denying rumors and reports that came out to be legitimate reports. In a 2012 report, Nintendo denied the news that the company will be producing a larger variant of the 3DS. The news turned out to be true as the company released the 3DS XL a few months later.
