Many countries have already legalized marijuana. Products in relation to cannabis such as, brownies, oil, wax and so much more are up for sale. Now, the new marijuana product is made especially for women. It is a tampon infused with cannabis to help ease menstrual cramps.

Foria, the manufacturer is known for making other marijuana- infused products such as lubricants. Now, they created a tampon with a goal to ease period pain without giving women a psychotropic high.

Early January, Foria announced their latest product. "Foria Relief" or the "Marijuana Tampons" is a suppository that can be inserted into the vagina or rectum. The product is composed of cocoa butter and the two main active ingredients found in cannabis, which is the THC and the CBD. The main goal is to ease menstrual cramps, and lower back pain, according to Independent.

However, the marijuana-infused tampon has not yet been under numerous clinical trials. But, cannabis was researched and used by many patients. Marijuana has proven its effectiveness in relieving pain.

Retired gynecologist and medical director of a medical marijuana evaluation center in California Dr. Morton Barke said, "We know that cannabis does help the pain. We do see a lot of patients with dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual periods). It's a fantastic modality to help patients."

In addition, the cannabis is directly reaching the bloodstream through the vagina as opposed to being ingested or smoked. Its pain-relieving powers should be even more potent than usual.

As follows, women who have experienced the "Marijuana tampon" gave a positive review. Gabrielle Korn, a writer in Nylon Magazine detailed her first experience. She said that it took 45 minutes of lying in the fetal position before she realizes that her menstrual pain already has subsided. Instead of having a feeling of stabbing pain, she claimed that her uterus had done some deep breathing exercise.

Meanwhile, Foria wants to make it clear that the "marijuana tampon" does not cause vaginal high. The Foria's Director or Product Development Tim Drennan explained that THC molecules are too big to be absorbed by the vagina while still having psychoactive properties. The pleasant feeling that women felt while using the Foria Relief is just a placebo effect, according to Medical Daily.
