CyanogenMod 14.1 Complete Review[VIDEO]: Android 7.1 Nougat Based OS Now On Nexus 5X/ 6P, OnePlus 3, And Other Phones!

While Android 7.1 is currently available only on the Google Pixel smartphones, by default, many smartphone enthusiasts have been too excited to get their smartphone an Android update. Thanks to the community at Cyanogen, a new Android 7.1 Nougat based CyanogenMod 14.1 nightlies has finally been rolled out for a number of smartphones.

CyanogenMod 14.1 is based on the open source code of Android 7.1 Nougat, and the user needs to have an unlocked bootloader to use the new CyanogenMod on their smartphones. Here's what we know about the CyanogenMod 14.1 so far:

The latest CyanogenMod 14.1 version had rolled out earlier, with an experimental build, for the OnePlus 3. Now, a total of nine different devices can get the latest Android 7.1 Nougat based OS as the nightly build gets pushed out on various smartphones. Project founder Steve Kondik announced the devices that'll get the CyanogenMod 14.1 upgrade, which includes the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Xiaomi Mi3w/Mi4, LG G3, Moto G, LG G4, Samsung Galaxy S5, OnePlus 3 as well as the ZenFone 2. Around 20 of the 14.1 OS ROMs have been uploaded so far. Kondik also added that users should also send bug reports so as to help in the development of the OS. Although themes are not yet available for the latest CyanogenMod, it's expected that in future the Mod will be rolled out for a larger batch of phones, along with new themes to choose from.

As the CyanogenMod 14.1 is a new build, it's not that stable just like any new beta version software. The new update may also contain a number of bugs as the AOSP source codes get updated every 24 hours. A number of features, including the themes, might also be missing in the new upgrade.

Just as the Android 7.1 Nougat introduces new features in the smartphones, the CyanogenMod 14.1 is also expected to come with some major performance improvements. The new OS upgrade has an enhanced UI experience along with a revamped notifications menu.
